Cancer Care Northwest is hiring an Oncology Pharmacist that provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care to oncology patients to assure safe and effective drug therapy. Requires independent decision-making, clinical judgment, and an in-depth knowledge of oncology and therapeutics.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate chemotherapy and infusion treatment plans for accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Verify medication orders by assessing diagnosis, dosing, drug interactions, allergies, labs, toxicity, and drug-specific monitoring parameters to ensure safe medication administration.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians in the preparation of hazardous and non-hazardous sterile products
  • Recommend therapy modifications to providers as clinically necessary to maximize therapeutic benefits and minimize toxicity.
  • Participate in developing pharmacist-driven protocols (e.g. carboplatin dosing, dose rounding, etc.)
  • Serve as a drug information resource to other healthcare professionals, including educating on new therapies.
  • Product verification of medications dispensed through our specialty pharmacy.
  • Assist the research department with the review, evaluation, and roll out of new investigational drug trials
  • Analyze drug shortages and inventory needs.
  • Develop, review, and assist with implementation of drug protocols and regimen builds.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulatory bodies as it pertains to physician-based oncology outpatient clinics.
  • Responsible for professional development, including meeting all requirements for continuing education, keeping abreast of current professional literature, and maintaining a pharmacist licensure in good standing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the minimum qualifications listed below. These qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform this job.

  • Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science Pharmacy degree from an accredited school of pharmacy
  • Licensure: Current pharmacist licensure in the State of Washington or ability to obtain prior to start date
  • Experience: Minimum of two years' experience in pharmacy practice OR completion of a PGY-1 pharmacy residency. At least one year oncology experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Pharmacy Specialty Board Certification (BCOP or BCPS)
  • PGY-2 in oncology
  • Experience with Epic EHR
