General Description of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Clinical Specialist (CS) is responsible for working directly with participants and their team, to develop and ensure proper implementation of behavior support plan, crisis and safety, if needed. Ensures that the atmosphere of behavioral programming provides optimal growth for the individuals we serve, and is based on a person centered philosophy and preserves their dignity and self-worth. The CS will be responsible for directing staff in the implementation of the individuals' behavior support plan in accordance with state and federal regulations and crisis intervention.

Specific Duties:

1. Conducts functional assessments that meet state regulations and are built upon the concepts of positive behavior supports.
2. Develops positive behavior support plans and interaction guidelines that utilize ethical, proactive, person-centered approaches and meets State standards.
3. Develops methods of tracking effectiveness of behavior support plans.
4. Provides the necessary training to enable employees to effectively use behavior support plans and interaction guidelines.
5. Regularly reviews and analyzes data and make changes to plans as necessary.
6. Conducts person centered planning meetings and Personal Outcome interviews as needed.
7. Promotes self-advocacy and independence by encouraging each individual to identify his/her needs and preferences; and when necessary, provides advocacy on behalf of each individual to ensure appropriate treatment, training and protection of rights.
8. Provides timely and accurate documentation, in compliance with policies, procedures and local regulations.
9. Participates in organizational quality planning, assurance and enhancement processes.
10. Must possess a commitment to the belief that all people have the right to dignity respect, opportunity and full community inclusion.
12. Must have a philosophy that is consonant with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of the organization.
12. Strong knowledge of community resources which may be used by people who are developmentally disabled.
13. Demonstrate leadership as well as possess compassion for and an understanding of the needs, struggles and dreams of people with developmental disabilities.
14. Capacity to organize large amounts of information and manage complex situations to achieve effective outcomes for each individual.
15. Ability to use and interpret policies and regulations pertaining to the service provision of individuals with developmental disabilities.
16. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff, individuals receiving services, families, other agencies, and the general public.

17. Acts as an integral part of the team by attending all meetings (New admissions, ISP, 30 day review and quarterly reviews).

18. A member of the crisis team to provide clinical and behavioral consultation on short notices and for emergency purposes.

19. Effective writing and communication skills.
20. Effective facilitation, negotiation and problem solving skills.
21. Willing to work flexible hours.

22. Familiar with 6400/6100 regulations.

23. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree in Human Services or Behavioral Specialist license preferred.
2. Bachelor’s degree in Human Services with at least two years experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
3. Three years experience supporting people with developmental disabilities.

4. Must have valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to insurance carrier.
5.Trained in FBA.

6. Must be 21 year of age or older.
7. Must clear ACT 34 and 73 (criminal).
