Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Manager

Our client – a multi-state independent energy supplier – is looking to bring on a Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Manager to represent the company before state legislative and regulatory bodies in Connecticut, New Jersey and Rhode Island. The role will have the responsibility to monitor and advocate legislative and regulatory policy positions across the three jurisdictions to support the company’s renewable energy businesses. This position can be fully remote.

What you’ll do:

  • Participate in ongoing regulatory and legislative initiatives that affect company’s businesses 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with utility commissions, legislators and other lawmakers, staff, and utilities
  • Analyze and summarize regulatory filings
  • Develop strategies to effectively advocate for the Company’s business interests at utilities commission working groups and proceedings
  • Monitor and advocate for legislation that supports the company’s businesses
  • Participate in trade groups and industry organizations
  • Draft comments and testify at utility commissions and legislative bodies  
  • Help ensure the company’s business compliance with consumer protection rules and applicable laws

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in political science or related field
  • 5 years’ experience in public policy and advocacy
  • Experience in utility industry, especially before regulatory or legislative bodies is preferred
  • Renewable and alternative energy experience a plus
  • Experience in drafting effective comments and testimony
