Position Title: Interim Spiritual Formation Associate

Department: Central Spiritual Formation Team

Supervisor : Executive Pastor of Ministries

Works With: Associate Campus Pastor & Spiritual Formation Team

Classification : Temporary / Full-time / Exempt

Payrange: $82,000-$100,000

Position Summary

1. Work as a member of the Menlo Church Central team to shape multisite strategy through shared vision, collaboration, and teamwork.

2. Serve as the primary Belonging Director on the Central Spiritual Formation Team.

3. Gather high-capacity Spiritual Formation volunteers and equip them for ministry in collaboration with campus staff. Lead, encourage, and develop volunteers through 1:1 and group interactions and through Menlo’s leadership pipeline.

Essential Functions

1. Collaborate with the Pastor of Spiritual Formation (currently Executive Pastor of Ministries) to execute vision and strategy across all campuses to ensure belonging that leads to finding and following Jesus and being formed into his likeness.

2. Provide resources and support for campuses to recruit, equip, and train volunteer teams and leaders to implement pastoral care, groups/classes, prayer, and connectional belonging that leads to spiritual formation at all campuses.

3. Serve as the dotted-line leader to Associate Campus Pastors.

4. Centrally support the Engagement Funnel environments, including Discover Menlo and Menlo Next.

5. Help to support the development of Menlo Academy (resources for Life Groups to grow into Kingdom Qualities; currently Unhurried Friend for a Fall Release)

6. Additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Executive Pastor of Ministries.

Qualifications Knowledge and Skills

1. Able to love, serve, and lead the congregation and staff of Menlo Church in Belonging as a pathway for Spiritual Formation.

2. Team player and team builder with a focus on the vision of the whole church.

3. Positive attitude and high emotional intelligence.

4. Strong administrative and interpersonal skills that assure strategic execution.

5. Ability to lead effectively in front of small and large groups in training and equipping.

6. Strong written and spoken communication skills.

7. Proficiency in Google Workspace, Asana & PCO.

8. Ability to learn new software, programs, and digital platforms.

Education and Experience

1. Minimum 3-years’ experience leading in the church or parachurch with a focus on discipleship and/or connections.

2. Demonstrated ability in strategy, administration, management, and execution of discipleship and/or connection at a local church or parachurch.

3. Demonstrated effectiveness in personal discipleship/evangelism and equipping others for discipleship.

4. Demonstrated teachability, flexibility, and hunger for learning to increase personal and organizational effectiveness.

5. Experience serving as a small group leader.

6. Seminary Degree (Completed or In-Process).

1. Must have an intimate, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and demonstrated love for the local Church.

2. Must be a committed disciple of Christ and committed to serving God and the body of Christ at Menlo Church in attendance, labs, and life groups.

3. Must have compatible theology in alignment with ECO essential tenets.

4. Must be pursuing or active in a community of believers who can speak truth into your life.

5. Will attend Menlo Church and participate in the community.

Work Conditions

1. Days and hours of work are generally business hours Sunday-Thursday with occasional evenings, Fridays, and Saturdays as needed

2. Regular work hours includes office hours at one's designated campus according to established staff rhythms, which currently includes Tuesday All-Staff from 9a-5p at the Menlo Park campus.

3. This job typically operates in a professional office & church environment with standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and telephones. There are also instances when the role will include off site visits to meet volunteers and congregation members.

The Spiritual Formation Team knows we are winning when:

1. We hear stories of people coming to faith every month at Menlo and they are connected into an environment of discipleship within 72 hours.

2. We hear stories of new people on every campus, every week at Menlo and they are personally connected with within 72 hours and invited into an environment of formation fitting to their journey.

3. Every week we hear stories of followers of Jesus taking risks on their journey that is forming them more into the likeness of Jesus (prayer, fruit of the Spirit, gospel proclamation and deeds, etc.). These stories are shared and celebrated with all our staff, elders, and key leaders.

4. Our volunteers are recruiting/equipping more volunteers than we are (and we’re recruiting/equipping machines).

5. Anyone who has been at Menlo for more than one year has been personally invited to an environment for formation fitting to their journey.

6. Anyone who has been at Menlo for two years has served in a Menlo local outreach environment.

7. Anyone who has been at Menlo for three years can articulate God’s heart for evangelism and missions and has had the opportunity to learn how to share their faith and has shared it.

8. Anyone who has been at Menlo for four years has been invited to see international missions first-hand.

9. We hire one staff member a year from within our congregation.
