Red Hat Migration Consultant

Location: Fort Worth, TX

Security Clearance: Secret level or higher (Required)

Citizenship: U.S. Citizen

Duration: 2-3months with the potential to extend

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Red Hat Migration Consultant to support our on-site team of Red Hat engineers in transitioning legacy customer applications from Solaris to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), including migrating from 32-bit to 64-bit systems. The consultant will play a critical role in developing technical roadmaps and creating playbooks to guide customer engineers through the migration process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with on-site Red Hat engineers to develop a comprehensive technical roadmap for migrating legacy applications from Solaris to RHEL.

• Group legacy applications into logical categories for migration and create detailed playbooks for each category.

• Provide technical guidance to customer engineers on migrating applications from Solaris to RHEL.

• Assess legacy applications written in C/C++ and Java to ensure smooth transition to the RHEL environment.

• Ensure the successful transition of 32-bit applications to 64-bit on RHEL.

Required Skills:

• Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL): Proven experience working with RHEL in enterprise environments.

• C/C++ Experience: Ability to read and understand legacy applications written in C/C++, with a focus on assessing and guiding their migration to RHEL.

• Java (Advanced): Strong experience in managing or developing tools using Java, particularly in the context of application migration.

• Security Clearance: Secret level or higher.

• U.S. Citizenship

Desired Skills:

• Experience working with SELinux for security-enhanced Linux environments.
