POSITION OVERVIEW

Business Technology Services, a division of IT Services, provides enterprise solutions and application development for the UC San Diego community. We deliver quality and reliable systems and services that help our campus continuously improve business processes. Our combined technical resources, including web, mainframe, and infrastructure are the foundation of the applications we develop.

With an annual budget of $550M, the Operations Management and Capital Programs (OMCP) supports the missions of the University of California San Diego by providing core infrastructure services, critical to the current and future needs of the campus, impacting the campus and UC San Diego Health population of approximately 85,000 students, staff, and faculty. The multi-billion physical assets of the main campus, Elliott Field, Point Loma, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and UC San Diego Health facilities consist of over 20 million gross square feet of space in nearly 900 buildings, dispersed across approximately 2,000 acres of land holdings. Business units within OMCP currently consist of Transportation & Campus Activation (Auxiliary Business Services, Transportation Services, Fleet Services, Triton Transit and Parking and Commuter Services), Community Safety (Police), Environment, Health & Safety, Facilities Management, Machining and Additive Prototyping Services (MAPS), Capital Program Management (over $3B), Campus Planning, Policy & Records Administration, Utilities & Sustainability, Project Quality Management and OMCP Finance & Administration.

Residential, Retail, and Supply Chain Service (ITS-RRSS) is a self-funded, large, and complex campus department consisting of 9 divisions, with more than 700 staff employees, over 800 student employees, and an annual operating budget of $150 million. HDH provides housing for approximately 20,000 undergraduates, grad students, faculty, staff, and their families in over 400 buildings, over 5 million SF. RRSS' goal of house 50% of enrolled students. The ITS-RRSS, a division of ITS, provides core infrastructure services for UC San Diego. The RRSS Information Services organization provides a full catalog of IT services to the Assistant Vice Chancellor - RRSS and each business unit within RRSS, which currently consists of Auxiliary Services (Housing, Dining & Hospitality, Early Child Development Center, Triton Digital Print, and the UC San Diego Bookstore); Facilities Management (Facilities Business Services, Custodial Services); Retail & Food Services (Triton Cash, Dining Dollars and Account Programs, Transact, Online Menus, Point of Sale, PCI, Amazon Just-Walk-Out Stores, Inventory Control, and Conference & Catering services); Internet & Cable Services; Access Control; Digital Signage; Construction (Bluebeam) and Business Support; Integration and supporting hardware and software systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Applies advanced business processes and analysis concepts and organizational objectives to resolve highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Select methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to obtain results.

  • Communicate with stakeholders, gathering requirements, and analyzing requirements to ensure that the end products will solve the business problems at hand.

  • Identifies and solves problems affecting the business solution, analyzes the existing business systems, and makes recommendations for improvement. Conducts research, provides references, identifies best practices, and produces workflow explanations by creating appropriate documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced knowledge of business and process analysis functions.

  • Knowledge relating to the design of processes and software across the organization.

  • Understanding and skill in complex process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative description

  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Interpersonal and communications skills to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.

  • Advanced skills and methodologies associated with process and software design, modification and implementation.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on background check results.

  • Employee must be available to work evenings and weekends.

  • Employee must be available to travel as required.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $94,400 - $176,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $45.21 - $84.67

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
