Job Description:

Supports university staff, faculty, and students in the safety of laboratories, facilities, equipment, etc., by ensuring compliance with safety/health regulations through inspection, testing, consultation, coaching, training, recommendation, and other methods.

  • Assess, verify, and remove pests found in campus facilities or grounds.
  • Maintain the established Pest Prevent and Cleanout Program.
  • On-Call after-hours duties every other week, year-long, 26 weeks a year for emergency pest response.
  • Inspect facilities to identify and submit for repair point of entry.
  • Enable Safety Department mission by assisting with other duties including but not limited to: fire extinguisher inspections, semesterly fire drills, fire watches, and other duties as assigned .

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Vocational or technical training required.
  • Associates Degree in EHS or Biology preferred.
  • Equivalent experience may be substituted.
  • Minimum of six (6) months work experience required.
  • Working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations.
  • This position involves traveling throughout the University and campus.
  • Could, on occasion require bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, talking, and hearing.
  • Often requires vision and hearing abilities. At times heavy lifting or carrying, or exposure to weather conditions.
  • Must be able to spend prolonged periods of time working in various campus facilities.
  • Must be able to work under deadlines.
  • Required to observe conditions of mechanical equipment.
  • May be subject to drug screening and background checks at any time during employment.
  • Able to occasionally drive a university vehicle.
  • Work evening and weekends as needed.
  • Meet attendance standards.
  • Must possess valid Ohio driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain Ohio University's Certified Driver status.
  • Department of Agriculture Licensed Commercial Applicator (10a, 7, Core) or Trained Service Person or ability to train and receive licensures prior to the end of probationary period.

AFSCME 3200 – Pay Range |14| – $16.84 – $21.48 per hour dependent on education and prior experience while considering internal equity.
