Summary:

The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing and facilitating the supply chain operations of the manufacturing environment. This role ensures the efficient and cost-effective distribution of goods, manages inventory, coordinates with suppliers and customers, and maintains accurate records of shipments. The Logistics Manager works closely with the production, procurement, customer service and sales teams to ensure timely delivery and optimal inventory levels.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Proactively monitor open customer orders to ensure they are never delayed due to transportation issues, resulting from missing information, poor planning, or lack of communication.
  • Manages a staff of employees:

o Interviews, hires, and trains new staff.

o Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the department.

o Conducts performance reviews that are timely and constructive.

o Handles discipline of employees in accordance with company policy and procedures.

  • Schedules shipments to ensure delivery by promised deadlines.
  • Coordinate with the production team to align inventory levels with production schedules.
  • Receives orders and ensures they ship from the correct warehouse.
  • Coordinate with the sales team to confirm order details and delivery schedules.
  • Prepare regular reports on logistics performance, including delivery times, costs, and inventory turnover.
  • Expedites orders that are backordered.
  • Assists customer service representatives with order status inquiries and special customer needs.
  • Resolves delivery problems.
  • Manages transfers to warehouse.
  • Maintain accurate records of all logistics activities, including inventory levels, shipments, and receipts.
  • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or a related field within a manufacturing environment.
  • 2 years of experience in a supervisory role. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with computerized distribution systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

 

Normal Working Hours and Conditions: Core business hours are generally 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. However, this position may require work to be performed outside of normal business hours based on Company operations. 

Physical Requirements: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting including verbally communicating, seeing and hearing to exchange information and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard. Daily physical functions include standing, sitting and walking for prolonged periods of time and occasionally stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and twisting. The employee may engage in lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling light to moderate amounts of weight up to 25 pounds. The position also requires the operation of office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement.
