Job Summary: The Intensivist Exceed Medical Physician is a certified, licensed physician who independently and collaboratively works with the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to acutely ill and/or medically complex patients in the intensive care unit.
Essential Job Responsibilities: - Demonstrates knowledge of etiologies, risk factors, pathophysiology, and presentation of acute medical conditions, e.g., sepsis, acute respiratory failure, and shock states. Demonstrates and uses critical thinking skills to synthesize and analyze patient data.
- Performs a comprehensive or problem-focused history and physical assessment for critically ill adult patients that is accurate and complete.
- Orders, collects, and correctly interprets and evaluates laboratory and/or other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs.
- Prescribes and manages pharmacologic agents and/or other treatment modalities with attention to efficacy and safety.
- Formulates and implements comprehensive outcomes-based treatment plans using the patient assessment, evidence-based medicine, standards of care, professional practice guidelines, and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, when appropriate.
- Evaluates patient responsiveness to treatment therapies and adjusts the treatment plan, as indicated.
- Initiates timely consultation and referral, including with the collaborating physician, based on the needs of the patient.
- Facilitates and maintains ongoing communication with the patient, family, and/or health care team members.
- Counsels and educates patients and families regarding medical processes and treatment.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Actively involved in teaching and training of Advanced Practice providers and or residents.
- Completes timely and accurate billing that is corroborated with the medical record.
- Collaborates with the multidisciplinary teams to ensure multidisciplinary rounds are completed with understanding and explanations provided for treatment modalities and therapies.
Job Requirements: - Must be a board certified or board eligible in Critical care
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Professional affable demeanor.
