MassChallenge is currently seeking a Healthcare/BioTech Entrepreneur-in-Residence to join our Dallas- based office.
Position Summary As our Healthcare/BioTech Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) at MassChallenge, your mission is threefold:
- Support the Growth of MassChallenge Healthcare & Texas Ecosystem: Play a key advisory role in shaping and expanding MassChallenge's healthcare initiatives, with a particular focus on the Texas ecosystem.
- Advise Startups: Provide expert guidance, mentorship, and strategic advice to startups within the healthcare and biotechnology sectors, helping them navigate complex challenges and scale their businesses.
- Engage with Partners: Actively engage with and develop new partnerships, fostering relationships that will support MassChallenge's mission and the success of our startups.
Location This role is hybrid and will be expected to work from the Dallas office for at least two days per week, typically Tuesday and Thursday.
What You'll Do General Responsibilities:
- Mentorship & Coaching: Provide one-on-one and group mentorship to MassChallenge startup founders, offering deep, actionable advice tailored to the unique challenges of the healthcare and biotech industries.
- Industry Expertise: Leverage your experience to guide startups on healthcare-specific topics such as regulatory compliance, clinical trials, FDA approvals, and market entry strategies.
- Network Building: Connect founders with key stakeholders, including potential investors, industry leaders, and corporate partners, to accelerate their growth.
- Curriculum Development & Delivery: Assist in the development and delivery of industry-specific curriculum and training, ensuring startups are equipped with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed.
- Corporate Engagement: Recommend and support introductions to new corporate/industry partners; engage with select partners to support more effective startup engagement.
- Representation & Advocacy: Represent MassChallenge at industry events, conferences, and networking sessions, promoting the program and fostering relationships with potential partners and supporters.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME): Advise on MassChallenge healthcare programs, including curriculum development, speaker selection, and other program elements.
Texas-Specific Responsibilities:
- Community and Network Building: Focus on growing relationships and partnerships within the Texas healthcare ecosystem, including universities and new corporate connections.
- Program Alignment: Support and advise on aligning MassChallenge programs with Texas ecosystem assets and strengths, particularly in areas like HealthTech, CancerX, and Human Performance.
- Evangelism: Act as a key advocate for MassChallenge within Texas, enhancing local brand recognition and vibrancy within the healthcare sector.
- Increased Texas Engagement: Drive engagement and participation in MassChallenge's Texas programs, ensuring strong showings and growing brand recognition.
Success Metrics
- Healthcare NPS Increase: Success will be measured by a notable increase in the Net Promoter Score (NPS) for MassChallenge's healthcare programs.
- Texas Brand Recognition: The effectiveness of Texas-focused efforts will be gauged by the growth in brand recognition and the vibrancy of healthcare-related program components in the region.
- Anchor Relationships: Success includes forging 1-2 significant anchor relationships in the Texas healthcare sector.
What You Bring Experience Requirements
- Healthcare/BioTech Expertise: Proven track record as a founder or senior executive in the healthcare or biotechnology sectors, ideally with experience in exiting a business.
- Regulatory & Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of healthcare regulations, clinical trials, FDA processes, and market dynamics in the biotech space.
- Network & Relationships: Extensive network within the healthcare and biotech industries, including connections with venture capitalists, industry leaders, and corporate partners.
- Mentorship Experience: High emotional intelligence (EQ) and a passion for mentoring and advising early-stage entrepreneurs.
- Texas Focus: Based in Dallas, TX, with a strong understanding of the Texas healthcare ecosystem and willingness to travel as required.
- Commitment to Giving Back: A genuine interest in supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs and contributing to their success, beyond financial motivations.
