Duration: 6 months contract
POSITION OVERVIEW Electronic engineering technologist collaborate with engineers to design, develop, test, manufacture, and repair electrical and electronic equipment. Read and interpret schematics, sketches, parts lists, component layout diagrams, assembly, maintenance, calibration and operating manuals. Perform general troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of complex electrical and electronic equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES - Independently diagnose and correct equipment/system malfunctions requiring technical creativity, expertise, and judgment.
- Develop/evaluate test procedures, analyze performance requirements, and create diagnostics using advanced technology, scientific principles, and math.
- Collaborate with engineering on design, modification, and development of commercial and experimental systems or prototypes.
- Read and interpret schematics, parts lists, and manuals for assembly, calibration, and maintenance tasks.
- Independently troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate complex electronic and electro-mechanical systems down to the component level, applying technical expertise and creative solutions.
- Conduct diagnostics on systems, boards, and components, often with limited procedural guidance.
- Plan and execute tests, selecting appropriate equipment and analyzing results to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
- Perform maintenance, repairs, and calibrations on complex systems using both standard and specialized techniques.
- Determine methods and procedures for new assignments.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, machine tools, and test equipment as required.
- Contribute to the design of electronic equipment or systems, providing technical details and solutions.
- Advise professional staff and support technical application designs.
- Utilize extensive knowledge of high voltage and high current power supplies, as well as high-power RF systems.
- Create drawings to communicate design modifications and adjustments.
QUALIFICATIONS - An AA Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Computer Science or Computer Technology or the equivalent in formal military or industrial training is preferred.
- Computer-Aided electronics drafting and design documentation skills.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of related experience.
- Experience with test equipment, RF, HV and high current power and PLCs desirable.
- Advanced technical understanding of electronics, electro-mechanical, or computer theory, scientific principles, and mathematics.
- Extensive work experience in performing advanced troubleshooting, repair and calibration of complex electronics or computer equipment.
- Knowledge of and ability to use complex test equipment, diagnostic routines and procedures and appropriate hand, and power tools of the trade.
- Ability to write or interpret complex tests, assembly, calibration, maintenance, or operating procedures.
- General knowledge of engineering design and test-documentation procedures and techniques.
- Familiar with NFPA 70E electrical safety work practices.
- Knowledge and understanding of Radiation Protective Interlock Systems
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders, work from heights and confined spaces, and lift 23 kg (50 lbs.)
