POSITION

WRITER OF THE OFFICIAL REPORT

OF THE DETROIT REPARATIONS TASK FORCE

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Detroit Reparations Task Force (DRTF) Report Writer s task includes the organizing, compilation, writing and editing of the Official DRTF Report, as well as the research necessary to identify and include information substantiating the Report narrative and recommendations. The DRTF may appoint/employ additional staff to carry out specific tasks (such as research and editing) under the direction of the DRTF Report Writer.

OBJECTIVE

To develop a comprehensive, clear, and well-structured official report for the Detroit Reparations Task Force to present to the Detroit City Council. This report will encapsulate the findings, recommendations, historical context, and proposed actions related to reparations for African American residents of Detroit.

DURATION OF THE APPOINTMENT

This appointment will extend over a period of months, ending when the prepared Report meets the requirements of the DRTF by vote of the majority of the DRTF Members.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Doctorate level education in African American history, political science, economics, or related fields, or professional portfolio demonstrating previous experience in preparing similar reports.
  2. Proven experience n writing detailed and comprehensive reports.
  3. Strong research and analytical skill
  4. Excellent writing and editing abilities
  5. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and incorporate feedback effectively
  6. Knowledge of African American history and reparations.
  7. Engagement in an interview with designated members of the DRTF.
  8. Approval by DRTF Members and City Council.
  9. Detroit residency preferred.

COMPENSATION

The compensation will be $50,000 Term Limited. Payment will be made in installments based on the completion of key milestones (e.g., initial draft, revisions, final report). The final payment will be released upon delivery and acceptance of the completed report by the Members of the DRTF.
