Duties and Responsibilities: (NOTE: ** denotes Essential Functions)
- **Under general supervision, identifies and recruits prospective students into the College. Collaborates with administrators, faculty and staff on recruitment activities.
- **Provides outreach services to prospective high school students. Assists prospective students in transitioning from high school to higher education and identifying viable college/career paths.
- **Informs prospective students on college-related admissions and on-line registration process, financial aid application, counseling services, job placement activities, student activities, and learning resources.
- **Collaborates with and supports school counselors, student organization advisors, resource personnel, and faculty to promote student college/career planning, information provision on the College's programs/services/initiatives, and arranging College speakers.
- **Assist high school counselors in understanding the application process for admission.
- **Supports special admissions programs (e.g., Running Start, Early Admit, Upward Bound) or alternative youth education programs (e.g., Youth Challenge).
- **Assists with the development and tracking of prospective students from the inquiry stage to enrollment. Monitors and tracks students that were accepted to the University, but did not register for courses.
- **Provides outreach services to nontraditional prospective student groups that include adult learners, military members, underrepresented or minority groups, academic transfers, and existing business/labor employees.
- **Establishes effective working relationships/partnerships with educational officers, staff development coordinators in business/community organizers/agencies, and adult school officials to promote the College, its programs and student enrollment.
- **Surveys and assesses opportunities to recruit through existing campus activities. Designs and executes on-campus recruitment events to promote the College and its programs to prospective students and their centers of influence. (e.g. Discover LCC Day, on-campus visits)
- **Stays abreast of college-wide initiatives (e.g., Career College & Job Fair, Family Fun Fair, Ultimate Road trip.) Coordinates with College departments and units to participate in activities. Collaborates with appropriate college staff to promote and support College recruitment activities.
- **Works closely with other College departments/units (e.g., Counseling & Advising, Admissions & Records, Financial Aid, Student Life, Job Preparation, Business Office, and Instructional Divisions) for services that are required of prospective students.
- **Works with the College's marketing specialist, institutional research analyst, satellite campus coordinators, and program counselors to define prospective traditional and nontraditional student target populations, key characteristics, and avenues of approach.
- **Coordinates on-site visits to the College to promote the College and its programs, conduct informational sessions and orientations, participate in college/career fairs, or conduct social receptions and media events.
- Participates in system-wide recruitment initiatives and committees.

- **Facilitates the development of fliers, brochures, and/or informational material for distribution to prospective students, parents, teachers, administrators, and other centers of influence.
- **Hires, trains and directs student employees to support the College's recruiting efforts.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of an operational budget that may include student salaries, supplies, equipment, printing, travel and promotional items.
- **Establishes and maintains partnerships with community groups (e.g. private non-profits, government and social services agencies, etc.), participates in recruitment opportunities of these groups, and serves as the liaison between the College and groups.
- **Works with the College's departments and instructional units in designing and executing special off-campus outreach programs (e.g. faculty and student ambassador programs).
- Assists in the planning and coordination of programs designed to assist students in transitioning to Leeward Community College (e.g. Freshman Summer Camp, student orientation).
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications - Possession of a baccalaureate degree in counseling, education, sociology, psychology, business, marketing or related field and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for educational outreach, counseling, admissions & records, financial aid, or other related student services field; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
- Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in student recruitment or enrollment as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
- Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with student recruitment, admissions, records, and information.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
- Demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
- Demonstrated ability with competency in spreadsheet.
- Ability to travel independently in a timely and efficient manner to various locations on Oahu.
- Able to work evenings and weekends as required.
Desirable Qualifications - Master's degree in counseling, education, sociology, psychology, business, marketing, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience in student services, outreach, or transition from secondary education to higher education.
- Working knowledge of community college mission, admission policies and procedures, financial aid process, academic programs, or student support services.
- Knowledge of nontraditional student populations that include socio-economically disadvantaged youth, underrepresented communities, military and veterans, or adults involved in workforce development or employment transition.
- Ability to develop positive relationships with centers of influence in high schools, military education centers, businesses, government agencies, or community organizations, and administrators and professionals in higher education.
